The YWCA will recognize 8 Leaders of Distinction, women who have made extraordinary contributions to their organizations, the community and other women. As the sole survivor of a community destroyed by AIDS, Bega has the spirit of her loved ones to encourage her to leave the past behind, head towards the future, and tell their story. This performance is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.  A panel discussion will immediately follow the production. The City of St. Louis will conduct its annual Project Homeless Connect as part of a nationwide initiative. The goal is to connect homeless individuals to benefits, medical care, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and a variety of social services which can lead to housing and self sufficiency. Free and open to the public. Winter in Missouri can be cold, stormy and icy. A few months ago many kinds of animals were here enjoying our lush summertime. What are all those animals doing now? Some have migrated, a few have hibernated -- but what about all the others? We will consider eight different strategies wild animals use for weathering winter, and illustrate them with activities and crafts. We will go on a winter walk, too, so please dress for the weather. Many of us remember how excited we were as children at finding our hung stockings stuffed with candy, nuts, small toys, games, or much needed things like hats, mittens, pajamas, or underwear!  We invite you to help us bring that same excitement to kids in need this holiday season. Our goal is to collect enough items for our Holiday Support Program to stuff 100 stockings for distribution.  So please come by and meet R.A.A.! team members, hear from past program participants, drop off your stocking stuffer donations, and enjoy free refreshments. Free and open to the public, however, RSVP is preferred.  Thank you for helping us help those in need.  RSVP to rose@raacommittee.org, (314) 925-0750, or http://raacommittee.org/stuffthestocking.html

Come to Powder Valley and discover owl behavior, adaptations and courting rituals that are taking place for the next few months throughout our state. A fun filled evening is waiting for you. Take a hike and try your hand at calling owls, dissect owl pellets and enjoy making a simple owl craft. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
